Let's start with what you really want to know: the Black Label Burger is as good as advertised (Yelp's #2 burger in the U.S.). This is probably the best burger without cheese that I've ever had! Really unique flavor profile due to the aged beef and the unique beef blend Minetta uses - the beef is the show and you need no cheese. Bonus tip: order thick cut bacon on the side for a savory addition to your meal. Getting a reservation a week in advance was not difficult. Great service here, as the waiters were kind, accommodating, knowledgeable, and playful in their banter.

I'm working my way through all the highly-recommended burgers in NYC, and today I had the Black Label Burger. It was good -- very good. I loved that it wasn't overburdened with toppings -- just the caramelized onion that was almost like a jam, there to moisten the bun. The beef was the centerpiece, as it should be of a burger, in my opinion. That said, I'm not sure it's worth the $38. I mean, it's a good burger. It's a good burger made from prime rib, so I get it that it's priced like a steak. The pomme frites were excellent too. Husband had the eggs Benedict which were perfection, we both thought -- just the classic version. We skipped dessert, in part because the table next to us ordered a bunch of different things, including the coconut cake I'd been eyeballing, and left most of everything, saying they were largely unimpressed. I wasn't unimpressed with the meal. The restaurant itself has great decor, and the service was friendly and attentive. But I wasn't blown away by our meal here either. Solid. But sort of staid.

I loved my burger at Minetta but I don't think it's a top 5 burger in NYC. The atmosphere is great and the burger was solid but it definitely isn't worth stalking a website for a reservation. That being said I'd come back. In addition to the burger we got the grilled oysters which were amazing, the French onion soup was the best thing on the menu and we finished with duck which was good.

Overall: We went here as a date night spot on a Friday night. Reservations here are incredibly difficult to get - I booked right when the reservations came out and was only able to come away with a 9pm slot. Other than the difficulty booking, we had a great experience. It's a very lively place with a wide array of food options ranging from burgers through nice steaks. We thoroughly enjoyed it, highly recommend it (if you can get in). Food: 5 Drinks: 4 Service: 5 Value: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Food: We shared the sardine appetizer as well as the moules frites and black label burger. The burger was the highlight of the meal - its made with dry aged beef and cooked to perfection. The moules frites were tasty, though some of the mussels were a bit grainy. The fries were delicious, but we were slightly overwhelmed by the amount of them. It would have been nice if they had offered other side options or could easily substitute for them. But overall, the food was great. Drinks: We decided to go with a bottle of wine. The wine list was extensive and offered glasses, half bottles, and bottles, though many of the bottles skewed toward the higher end. They also had a full bar and a list of cocktails. Service: Service was attentive but not overbearing. Our waitress was always available, but never seemed to hover. They only take entire orders at once, which makes it impossible to order apps piecemeal. Value: Minetta Tavern skews toward the pricier side. That said, the menu did have a full range of items that made it more reasonable for a casual meal rather than just special occasions. Atmosphere: The place was very lively and energetic without being too loud. They managed to get lots of tables into a relatively small space, though I never felt overly crowded.

Bone marrow was incredible -- 3 large pieces, perfectly charred. Paired really well with the lobster salad which had citrus and was light. We wanted to try both the dry aged black label burger and the Minetta burger. The dry aged beef flavor was more intense but they cooked it medium; so the Minetta burger ended up being more juicy. Both were great! Finished it off with a chocolate soufflé and vanilla ice cream. Then passed out from a food coma for a couple hours after getting home.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The food, atmosphere, and service were exceptional. We started with the octopus (a daily special) and the roasted bone marrow, both of which were delicious. For our main course, we both opted for the black label burger, which was outstanding and easily ranks among the best in NYC. The quality of the beef was exceptional, noticeably prime, and the fries cooked in peanut oil were a really nice accompaniment. The bone marrow, served with baguettes, was a treat, although I wished for a bit less butter on the bread. The ambiance was really nice to be part of- intimate, softly lit, with a charming old-school vibe and great decor.

AMAZING BURGER eat here it's good, lots of fries and good staff I . Amazing ambiance like a old tavern so EAT HERE

I've walked by Minetta Tavern so many times over the course of my city dining adventures but wondered why I didn't stop here sooner. MT is a very classy establishment dating back to the 1930s, and once you enter, it gives French bistro meets an American tavern vibes. We stopped by without a reservation, but would recommend one when coming here because it was packed even around 2pm for a late weekend brunch. We opted for bar seating as that is always available. I've always heard really good things about their burgers and decided to try the Black Label Burger ($38). While on the pricey side, it was well worth it for the portions and we were able to share this amongst two people. The burger was tender, juicy and came with plentiful amount of perfectly crisp fries. Our bartender/waiter, Mitch was also really friendly and awesome. Highly recommend coming to this quintessential NY restaurant!

Village institution with old world flair, impeccable food and superb service. I took a chance by walking in and what do you know, a party of two just cancelled otherwise it's normally very difficult without a reservation. All entrees are great and their famous black label burger lives up to the hype as one of the best burger in NY. Overall great establishment with outstanding vibes.
